Qinghai – a highland plateau averaging over 3,000 metres above sea level, where sunlight is intense, temperature swings are extreme, and sandstorms persist year-round. Yet this harsh environment is precisely where China’s most advanced concentrated solar power (CSP) and long-duration energy storage bases are taking root.
Wanlong’s connection with Qinghai began in 2019. At that time, the domestic CSP and energy storage sector was still emerging. Wanlong took on the challenge, securing the molten salt valve order for a multi-energy complementary project in Qinghai. From specialised material selection to sealing-structure design, every step was optimised for molten salt service conditions. The valves were delivered successfully in a single batch and have been operating stably ever since – marking Wanlong’s milestone as the first commercial power plant molten salt valve project. Since then, Wanlong has continued to deepen its presence in Qinghai, participating in several large-scale CSP and energy storage projects, including the Qinghai Zhongkong Delingha 50MW CSP project.
As one of the earliest valve manufacturers in China dedicated to the CSP and long-duration energy storage sector, Wanlong has remained steadfast in its commitment. The company was invited to co-author the Technical Specification for Molten Salt Valves (T/CAMETA 001089-2025). This standard, for the first time, systematically defines technical requirements, test methods, and inspection rules for molten salt valves, filling a gap in China’s technical standards in this field. Effective from 28 January 2026, this specification is not merely a regulatory document – it represents national-level recognition of Wanlong’s long term technical expertise and industry contributions.
Beyond Qinghai, Wanlong’s footprint now extends to Tibet, Xinjiang, Gansu, and other regions, participating in more CSP and energy storage projects. Looking ahead, Wanlong will continue to anchor itself in the CSP and long duration energy storage sector, driving sustained technological innovation and providing lifelong after sales service, contributing solid "Wanlong strength" to the high quality development of China’s new energy industry.
